Marcus Franklin
The first ever Focus on the Group article is about one of the most colorful characters in the FOCUS group. He is none other than Marcus Franklin. Marcus originally came to a Sunday night bible study in early November ’02. (By the way that’s right before his birthday.) Marcus grew up in the city of Akron and attended David Hill Elementary School where he conquered the David Hill spelling bee and won the hearts of many as a “stirring mouse.” He then moved on to Roswell Kent Middle School, then finally to GHS, Garfield High School, to graduate in the Class of 2001. During high school Marcus was employed with MBNA credit cards and was a telemarketer. He then moved on to his current employment at UPS.
Marcus accepted Christ when he was little, and doesn’t quite remember the day, but he loves coming to church and hanging with friends. Marcus was formally a part of a youth ministry at East Liberty Church. Marcus’s Family is a faith-based family and he often attends church with his mother on Sunday mornings; if he’s not there, he is at good old CHC.
This funny chap has many hobbies, which include comic books, watching movies, video games, and hanging out with friends. Marcus blew on the scene with grace and charisma. Since then he is now a two-time FOCUS title champion. Marcus was the first FOCUS champ ever and was the first to hold the belt for a second time. His awesome movie trivia and wild impressions bring such life to the group (just ask him to do some, its hilarious).
