Faith or Insanity

You know what I want for you? For you, whoever is reading this? I want you to want it. What is it? It is whatever God wants from you, and I mean whatever. I want that myself. I want that so bad that sometimes I think it drives me to the precipice of insanity. I seriously wonder sometimes. My thoughts don’t always seem completely rational; my actions also teeter at times. I try to seek what it is that the Spirit wants from me, and often when God’s Spirit speaks…it doesn’t much human sense.

Do you think that is incorrect? Well, let’s look at some of Jesus’ requests. Check out Matthew 19 when Jesus tells a young man who follows all the rules and would be considered a great young person. Jesus says, “Leave it all” and the young man just “can’t” do it. That makes no sense; it isn’t a sin to have money.

What about Matthew 8, when Jesus says to another man, “follow me” and the man replies, “let me first bury my father” and Jesus responds, “let the dead bury the dead.” What? It is a respectable, honorable, rational request. However, Jesus had a bigger and better plan.

I am not saying that everything rational is not of God, what I AM suggesting is that sometimes we need to look beyond the realm of human rational and realize that God…and when I say realize, I mean REALLY realize…has a much bigger, better, and somehow more rational than any human could have. Does this seem a little “out there?” I think by most people’s standards, it may be. I think some people might say that I have absolutely lost my mind. I can reply with complete assurance that if I am insane, He is my insanity and to be honest, I am ok with that.

I don’t mean to just be spouting off, but as I read through the Bible, I see things that jut seem completely crazy by human standards and yet, they are the will of God. I see rivers and seas parted and people walking around on dry land, I see rains come that flood the earth and just before the rains come a guy finishes building a boat that he as worked on for decades, I see a man called to kill his son, I see a slave turn into a prime minister of a world power, I see a teenager killing a veteran giant in one on one battle, I see (numerous times) an small army defeating a HUGE army just because God is with them, I see things like this and much more. Now, think about it, don’t these things seem completely unreasonable?

I don’t mean to go on a rant here, but I am just curious how big we believe God really is? If He is who He says He is, what hinders us so much? Do we believe in the unbelievable? I mean, if God leads it or calls us to it, could He accomplish the unbelievable through us? What if God calls you to do something irrational? Would you be willing to get a little crazy? Are you open to hearing God calling you to do something a little stretching, just so He can glorify Himself through you?

I am not suggesting you do crazy things for craziness sake. We have to ask, “Will it bring Him glory?” If He calls us to do something, are we willing? I want you to want “it", I want you to want what He wants. It will stretch you, and it will change your perception, but it may be exactly what He wants for you.
